Brookswood Community Plan Voted Down

April 2nd, 2014

Brookswood will now be put on the bottom of the Langley Township’s long list of areas to plan for future development. On March 31st the Langley Township voted down the Brookswood community plan with many residents opposing it. With the plan being voted down the township will be starting from scratch, which could take upwards of 2 years. Coun. Charlie Fox recommend the plan be sent back to council for amendment,  but council voted 7-2 to defeat it instead and start all over again.  The proposed plan was almost four years in the making.

Donavon Ash, associate broker for Frontline’s land division considers that “from a development standpoint Brookswood is on hold for the next 5 to 10 years and developers and investors will be very cautious about spending money on land in this area due to the large public concern surrounding future development.”

The plan would have permitted density that could have boosted the population from 13,500 to 42,000 people over the next 30 years.
