Three workers were rescued in Surrey after a trench collapsed on Tuesday.

The incident took place at a work site located near 158th Street and 104th Avenue just after noon.

Two of the workers were pulled out by co-workers, but the third was reportedly trapped up to his chest.

Fire crews responded to the scene and were able to rescue the worker, who was sent to hospital with what’s believed to be minor injuries.

It was unclear what caused the trench to collapse. WorkSafe B.C. is now investigating the incident.
